Einstein Bariatrics - Special Programs

Bariatric surgery operations have been performed since the 1950s. Unlike the gastric bypass, a number of operations were performed that had only short-term success with a very high incidence of long-term failure or had an unacceptably high incidence of severe complications. Examples of these include the jejunoileal bypass and the gastroplasty (or stomach stapling). At least 15 percent of patients who have had the Lap-Band® will require removal or revision.

At Einstein Bariatrics, we offer surgical revisions or corrections for those patients who have had prior failed bariatric surgery or who have developed unacceptable side affects. Often, we are able to perform these revisions and corrections using minimally invasive surgical techniques. In addition, we offer a patient re-education and training program designed to help patients get back on track after a prior surgery.

Corrective operations for previous bariatric surgery, and patient re-education and training, can be complex. Please contact us with any questions regarding the Revisions Program.

During your initial consultation, you will be asked to bring your old operative report (if available) and a recent X-ray study which our office can coordinate.
