Meet the Surgeons

Ramsey DallalRamsey Dallal, MD, FACS has performed more than one thousand weight loss procedures and has managed many more. He has published some of the lowest complication rates and some of the highest patient satisfaction rates in the country.

Dr. Dallal was born and raised in Virginia where he attended college and medical school. He first became involved with bariatric surgery under the instruction of Harvey Sugerman, MD, one of the academic pioneers in open bariatric surgery and past president of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). He completed a surgical residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), which was one of the first programs in the country to perform the laparoscopic gastric bypass and the institution that has done more laparoscopic surgeries than almost anywhere in the world.

After residency, he dedicated a year of his life to train in the techniques of bariatric surgery with the laparoscopic surgical team as the Mark Ravitch/Leon C. Hirsch fellow. He was a clinical instructor at UPMC and trained surgeons how to perform the laparoscopic gastric bypass and the Laparoscopic Adjustable Band® procedures.

After spending several years in private practice in southern California performing bariatric surgery, he joined Albert Einstein Healthcare Network in 2005 as the Director of Einstein Bariatrics, Einstein’s interdisciplinary, minimally invasive surgical weight loss program.

Dr. Dallal is a diplomat of the American Board of Surgery, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a regular member of the ASMBS and a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons. He is a member of research and communication committees of ASMBS. Dallal has also published numerous research papers on the subject of bariatric surgery.

Alfred TrangAlfred Trang, MD joined Einstein Bariatrics in 2007. He was raised in Reading, Pa. and attended medical school at Temple University. Dr. Trang completed his general surgical residency at the Western Pennsylvania Surgery Program in Pittsburgh, where he was awarded the West Penn Laparoscopic Surgery Award and was appointed academic chief resident. He later completed a clinical fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. He was appointed associate professor in surgery at Mt. Sinai, and currently holds the position of clinical professor of surgery at Jefferson Medical School.

Dr. Trang is experienced in all aspects of bariatric surgery including the laparoscopic gastric bypass, the adjustable gastric band, the laparoscopic sleeve and revisional surgery.

Dr. Trang is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, the American Medical Association and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. He has published and presented extensively on laparoscopic surgery, on such topics as the concomitant repair of ventral hernias during laparoscopic gastric bypass, the laparoscopic repair of a pfannenstiel incisional hernia, and the laparoscopic repair of esophageal diverticulum.
